Wellness Program Highlights

The success of our program can be shown by the participation numbers that continue to increase every year. In 2018, 80% of eligible employees participated in some type of service provided by our program. High participation in our program helps improve compliance and decrease our care gaps, such as seen in our mammogram screenings. Last year, 64% of women were compliant with recommended mammogram screenings, which is an 18% improvement from the previous year.

Most Proud of ...

We are most proud of the free on-site mammography screenings. We've been able to offer all employees, regardless of if they are on our insurance plan or not. In 2018, 64% of women were compliant with recommended mammogram screenings, which is an 18% improvement from the previous year. Through a partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County, we are also able to offer mammogram screenings to women who do not have insurance.

“I’m most proud of the strides our wellness program has made for eight years. We began our current wellness program in 2011 after years of escalating medical and pharmacy costs. Our health plan budget was increasing at a rate of 9-12% annually. Since the implementation of our Pasco Go Healthy program, the district has avoided over $117 million in medical and pharmacy expenditures. Employees have saved over $11 million in copays for office visits, lab services, and generic medication. In 2018, 80% of eligible employees participated in our program and the data shows that more members are choosing to manage their care at our on-site health and wellness centers. We also experienced a lower prevalence of heart attacks and strokes and a decrease in the average risk score. These results are inspiring and a testament to the success of our program.”

“The ‘Aha!’ moment employees experience when they truly understand the value of the district’s group health plan excites me the most. I am just as excited as our employees are when they discover how to minimize their out-of-pocket costs while navigating the healthcare system and accessing services provided by the group health plan. Pasco County Schools strives to place tools in the hands of our employees that will assist them with becoming better healthcare consumers. In 2018, 55% of eligible employees completed a health risk assessment and followed up with their healthcare provider to establish a road map continuous well-being.”
