Wellness Program Highlights

Humana takes a long-term view to measurement and goal setting. Since 2012, Humana associates have reduced self-reported unhealthy days (a population health measure established by the CDC) by 20%, resulting in 2.3 million more healthy days experienced. Focusing on the last 12 months, Humana is proud of the improvement in Well-being Snapshot scores, Humana's comprehensive dashboard that measures progress across 60 health and well-being metrics, which improved 8% from 2017 to 2018.

As a part of the annual 100 Day Dash program, Humana was able to grow what was once only a step challenge into something much bigger. Year over year, associates are encouraged to improve their previous step count. However, in 2018, Humana encouraged associates to focus on consistency. For every quarter of the dash, an associate could earn a consistency reward by recording steps for 20 out of 25 days. In 2018, 60% of dashers consistently stepped all four quarters, with 38% more consistent steppers than 2017. In addition, 50% of dashers improved their overall step count. Associates provided positive feedback on the change, as it allowed them to set manageable goals and work on remaining consistently active throughout all 100 days instead of setting a high step goal and then falling off track. Based on these results, Humana will continue rewarding for consistency in the 100 Day Dash for 2019.
