Norton Healthcare is a nationally recognized integrated non-profit hospital system that encompasses 13 Norton Immediate Care Centers and provides care in more than 250 locations throughout Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana. Our Norton family encompasses more than 15,000 employees, more than 1,000 employed medical providers, and approximately 2,000 total physicians on our medical staff.

Wellness Program Highlights

In 2018, 80% of employees and 67% of covered spouses engaged in the “N Good Health” wellness program. With a continued focus on health outcomes in 2018, we’ve seen positive trends over the past year. Participants made better use of their healthcare dollars, experienced fewer gaps in care, stayed in-network, and are more engaged in their health. Participants have consistently had fewer emergency room visits and admission rates than non-participants, despite being higher risk and having higher prevalence of chronic disease. High blood pressure for program participants is at an all-time low of 24.6% and high cholesterol for program participants is at a record low of 19.3%. We also have a historically high number of participants who don’t use tobacco at 94.8%.

Most Proud of ...

We are most proud of our culture shift. We are leading the change through a new approach to grassroots communication via wellness champions. Wellness champions are a part of a larger network of leaders and staff who are focused on creating a healthy culture. Our wellness champions are from all departments and all walks of life. They are committed to creating a culture of health and wellness. They share wellness-related information with co-workers and help them connect to programs and activity offerings. As an extension of the wellness team, champions are helping change the culture within the organization. Each facility has an executive wellness sponsor as well as a wellness lead. Engaging at the grassroots to align with staff capabilities and passion allowed us to not only grow our champion numbers, but also engage them. Our executives are really stepping up and making it a priority for their facilities, which goes a long way in creating a culture infused with well care.
